A Little Bit About Cartmel Grange
Cartmel Grange is a private residential nursing home situated on the edge of Grange-over-Sands. The magnificent building, originally built in 1914 as a convalescence home for miners, stands in mature, landscaped grounds which feature a bowling green and a grade II listed war memorial. Occupying one of the finest positions in the town and with commanding panoramic views over Morecombe Bay and the surrounding countryside. We provide facilities for 61 elderly ladies and gentlemen, requiring 24 hour nursing or dementia care.
The building was converted to a nursing home in 1991 but has retained many of the original architectural features.
The home is divided into three floors with the middle floor specialising in caring for residents with nursing and dementia needs. All our rooms have en-suite toilet facilities, washbasins and modern furniture. Many rooms have spectacular views of Morecombe Bay or beautiful fell aspects. We have four lounges and a dramatic dining room. We provide a wide range of activities and have a minibus capable of taking wheel chairs which is used for shopping and theatre trips. We also have regular visits from musical societies, religious groups and have fetes and celebrate each significant day in the calendar with organised events.

Cartmel Grange Care Home is situated on the outskirts of the beautiful holiday resort of Grange-over-Sands.
Grange-over-Sands itself is a picturesque and popular location,transformed from a small fishing village in Edwardian/Victorian times, with the advent of the Furness railway, into a fashionable holiday venue. The effects of the Gulf Stream give the added benefit of an all year round moderate climate resulting in flora and fauna unusual to the rest of the Lake District National Park.
Although “off the beaten track”, Grange-over-Sands is easily accessed by excellent road links from the motorway system and via train. The entrance to Cartmel Grange is on the B5277 which runs through the centre of Grange-over-Sands. Cartmel Grange is a 15 minute walk from the town centre.

It is a recognised “kite mark” of excellence and is supported by the Royal College of GPs, Care England and other national care homes bodies, British Geriatrics Society, the Community Hospital Association, Association of Retirement Community Operators and others.
